A Pre-Exam JAM!

Are finals stressing you and your friends out? Do you need to take a break for just one night before the storm of exams hits next week? Well the Conscious Alliance chapter at the University of Georgia hears your cries for help. This coming Friday, April 30th, Conscious Alliance is throwing its very first PRE-EXAM JAM at The Last Call in downtown Athens!

The concert begins at 10:00 p.m., so students can let back and relax before an entire week of finals. Performances by The Incredible Sandwich, The Hypsys, and Capsule Corp. are to be expected! Tickets are $8 at the door, but if you bring 10 cans of non-perishable food you get half off!

Conscious Alliance's vision is to "co-create a world through compassionate service in which all communities have equal access to food." And what better what to help the cause than to clean out your pantry before leaving for summer and attend an awesome concert!

Conscious Alliance is a non-profit organization "dedicated to raising awareness about hunger by reaching out to the art and music communities." Through its "art that feeds" motto, Conscious Alliance has held many benefit concerts all over the country to attract a larger college audience.

The organization was created in 2002 when a group of students came together with one vision as food drive volunteers. Their hope was to raise and donate food to impoverished Indian Reservations in the Western United States and raise awareness of the poverty that exists on Indian reservations today. Its area of distribution has now expanded to include all communities stricken with poverty and disaster.

Since its beginning, the Conscious Alliance has collected and distributed over 1,000,000 pounds of non-perishable foods to communities in need and local food pantries. The vision of this organization quickly spread from food drives to include benefit concerts.

So I encourage all UGA students to take a break from studying Friday night and make a trip to the Last Call downtown with 10 cans on non-perishable food to see the Incredible Sandwich, the Hypsys, and Capsule Corp.! What better way to relieve stress than by dancing to the original sound of these live bands!
